Australia Overview

In May 2018, ROC agreed to buy a 50% interest in the producing Ungani oil field and three surrounding exploration permits from operator Buru Energy Limited.  The assets are located in the onshore Canning Basin, Western Australia.  ROC withdrew from the exploration permits effective 31 December 2019.

ROC actively explored and appraised several operated Perth Basin permits from 2000 to 2017. In 2001, ROC's first well in Australia discovered the Cliff Head Oil Field, the first (and currently only) commercial oil discovery in the offshore Perth Basin.  Subsequent appraisal and development saw the field come online in May 2006, less than 14 months after project sanction. ROC developed and operated the Cliff Head field until May 2017 without significant safety or environment incident since start-up.

ROC's strategy is to maintain and grow its presence in Australia via acquisition of high quality oil and gas assets.
