The Drilling and Completion Operations for Weizhou 10-3West Oilfield Commenced

Drilling Operations

On October 31, 2025, ROC Oil officially commenced drilling and completion operations for the Weizhou 10-3 West Oilfield Development Project on the HYSY936 drilling platform in the Beibu Gulf, South China Sea, marking the formal start of the field’s drilling and completion phase.

On October 28, ROC Oil held a pre-spud mobilization and technical handover meeting in Zhanjiang for the project. Facing multiple challenges such as variable offshore weather, complex geological conditions, and high technical difficulties in drilling and completion, the ROC team engaged in in-depth discussions and detailed technical exchanges with COSL and other participating contractors. The meeting focused on key elements of the drilling and completion plan, operational procedures, and safety and quality assurance measures, laying a solid foundation for the safe and orderly implementation of subsequent offshore operations.

The project represents another important milestone in ROC’s continued commitment to the Beibu Gulf region and its partnership with CNOOC in advancing regional oil and gas cooperation. It also serves as another practical application and validation of ROC’s “Solution for Offshore Marginal Field Development.” The successful execution of the project will further enhance ROC’s overall capabilities as an offshore operator, contribute valuable experience for the continuous improvement of the “ROC Solution,” and provide a useful reference for the development of other challenging small- to medium-sized offshore marginal oilfields.

ROC Oil remains committed to the principles of “Safety, Efficiency, and Win-Win Cooperation.” The company will continue to work closely with its partners to overcome challenges and steadily advance the drilling and completion operations of the Weizhou 10-3 West Oilfield Development Project, ensuring safe, high-quality, and efficient project delivery. The successful implementation will enable early production and inject new momentum into the sustainable energy development of the region.
