| HISTORY |
- In May 2001, ROC's first well in Africa discovered the Chinguetti Oil Field, establishing offshore Mauritania as an emerging new oil province.
- The field was declared commercial-in-principle in January 2004, the Field Development Plan was approved in March 2004 and Final Investment Decision was made in May 2004.
- The Government of Mauritania granted an Exclusive Exploitation Authorisation ("EEA") over the field in May 2004 and exercised its option to acquire 12% interest in the EEA area in November 2004.
- Phase 1 drilling and completion of development wells finished in September 2005 and installation of production facilities was completed in February 2006.
- Oil production commenced on 24 February 2006 and within three weeks cumulative production achieved 1 million barrels.
- The first cargo loading of approximately 60,000 barrels net to ROC of crude oil was completed on 22 March 2006 and was destined for China, representing ROC's first oil sale from Africa.
- An infill production well, comprising Phase 2a development, was drilled and completed from December 2006 to March 2007.
- In March to April 2007 a high-resolution 4D seismic survey was acquired over the field.
- Phase 2b development, comprising two infill wells, was completed in October 2008.

| GEOLOGY |
- The Chinguetti Field contains oil and gas in Miocene submarine fan / channel sand reservoirs in a radially faulted anticline above a salt dome.
|
| DEVELOPMENT FACILITIES |
The field produces using a FPSO with production and water injection wells tied back subsea from three separate seabed satellite manifolds. Initially, there were six production wells, five water injection wells and one gas injection well. Associated gas is re-injected into the nearby undeveloped Banda Oil and Gas Field. The production wells are capable of being gas lifted. The FPSO comprises a converted trading tanker with 1.6 million barrels of storage. Shuttle tankers are used to export the stabilised crude oil.
