BMG Geology & History

Development plan and activities
  • The BMG oil and gas fields produced oil and gas
    from five wells.
  • Most oil-bearing zones contain a light (40o API),
high GOR fluid, moderate CO2 and low H2S.
Gas bearing zones at Basker and Manta typically
    contain wet gas.
  • Development wells were connected to a subsea
manifold at a water depth of 158 metres,
which was tied back to the FPSO “Crystal Ocean”
by subsea  flowlines.  Production capacity was
    about 25,000 BOPD.
  • A low pressure flare recovery compressor package
(to supplement the re-injection of produced gas)
was installed on the Crystal Ocean FPSO in 4Q 2009.
  • Oil was transferred from the FPSO by flowline to
the shuttle tanker “Basker Spirit”, which stored
    and
transported oil to refineries in Victoria or
    by ship-to-ship
    transfer into the export market.
  • In November 2010, production operations utilising
the Crystal Ocean and the Basker Spirit were
suspended as a consequence of preparations to
    m
ove into a non-production phase in preparation
    for a future field development.
 Envisaged Development Plan
  • In 2H 2008, ROC acquired its interests in the
Gippsland Basin via acquisition of Anzon
    Australia Limited.
  • At that time a significant FPSO development was
envisaged and various subsea equipment items
    were procured
  • The envisaged development is provided below.
    Current considered future development option
    does
not rely on all of the previously procured
    equipment.
IT is this equipment that is now
    available for sale at
    significant discounts
